American Airlines clarified that its Santo Domingo ticket office continues to operate normally and that it has rerouted calls from its telephone reservation center to other equipment in its network, without affecting its flights in the Dominican Republic.
In a statement dated Oct. 15, the company said the change is limited exclusively to the telephone reservation service and does not modify its itineraries or its commitment to the Dominican market, which it has served for more than five decades.
The company said the ticket sales office remains open in the In Tempo building on Winston Churchill Avenue, at the corner of Max Henríquez Ureña. It is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The airline reported that during the winter season it will operate up to 174 weekly flights from five destinations in the Dominican Republic.
“This change is limited exclusively to telephone reservation center operations,” the company said, attributing the measure to its efforts to improve the customer experience.
The statement did not specify how many employees were affected by the reorganization or provide details on the working conditions resulting from the transfer of service.
