The Nepal Premier League will introduce the Decision Review System (DRS) in its third edition, scheduled to run from October 26 to November 21.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced the move on social media on Tuesday, paving the way for teams to challenge on-field umpiring decisions during the tournament.
CAN Secretary Paras Khadka had earlier said preparations were underway to bring DRS to the league. According to Khadka, two companies had already tested the technology, with a final decision to be made after assessing its accuracy and reliability.
CAN said the system would use full 3D ball-tracking technology to review leg-before-wicket (LBW) decisions. Reviews would also be available for run-outs, stumpings and no-ball calls.
The system will also use artificial intelligence-based edge detection to determine whether the ball has touched the bat, helping umpires assess potential edges.
Other features will include analysing wide-ball decisions based on the height of deliveries, measuring the distance and height of sixes, and providing additional bowling statistics, CAN said.
