Paolo Paganini has discussed Luciano Spalletti’s position as Juventus manager, suggesting that the Italian is feeling nervous because of the possibility of Antonio Conte returning to the club.
Conte is currently a free agent and is reportedly looking for a job with a struggling team, a possibility he has discussed himself. Juventus could consider him if Spalletti fails to meet expectations, although the current manager continues to enjoy the club’s backing.
Spalletti has made progress in his role, and Juventus believe he can lead them back to winning trophies. The players are also working with him as he attempts to build a competitive team capable of challenging for major honours.
However, Conte’s reputation and achievements mean his name remains significant whenever questions arise about Juventus’ managerial future. The club wants the right people in every position, and Paganini believes the possibility of Conte returning could add pressure on Spalletti as he carries out his duties at the Allianz Stadium.
Spalletti faces transfer market concerns
Juventus want to return to winning trophies and have entrusted Spalletti with the responsibility of helping them achieve that objective. Nevertheless, the squad still has areas that need strengthening, and the transfer market has reportedly been a source of frustration for the manager.
Paganini believes the club failed to deliver some of the players Spalletti wanted, leaving important gaps in the team. Those recruitment issues, rather than results alone, are central to his assessment of the manager’s current mood.
The situation could become more complicated if Conte remains a potential option for Juventus. Even with the club’s backing, speculation about another high-profile manager could create additional pressure on Spalletti to deliver consistent performances.

Paganini explains Spalletti’s nervousness
Speaking via Tuttomercatoweb, Paganini highlighted the transfer market problems and suggested Conte’s possible return is adding to the situation.
“There’s talk of Spalletti’s nervousness, but the problem once again concerns the transfer market. There is talk of Woltemade, but he was not the player who wanted Spalletti. He wanted the renewal of Vlahovic, and it was not possible, especially for budgetary reasons. He wanted Mateta, Sorloth, Zirkzee, they got him Woltemade. The transfer market has not covered two gaps, the centre forward and the playmaker, which is still missing. The nervousness then comes from the fact that Conte’s ghost is there.”
Paganini’s comments suggest that recruitment concerns and uncertainty surrounding Conte are contributing to the pressure on Spalletti. Juventus will hope the manager can continue progressing with the squad available to him and keep the focus on their ambitions.
