LONDON (AP) — Daniel Dubois will try to retain his WBO heavyweight title in a rematch against Fabio Wardley on Saturday, five months after their first slugfest.
Dubois (23-3, 22 KOs) bloodied Wardley in an 11th-round stoppage victory in May to become a two-time heavyweight champion.
The Manchester bout was all action and started well for Wardley, who dropped the former IBF champion just 10 seconds into the fight.
Dubois ultimately took control and landed heavy rights that produced swelling and bleeding on Wardley’s face.
It was the first professional loss for Wardley (20-1-1, 19 KOs). He was making his first title defense. Wardley then activated a rematch clause in the contract.
Saturday’s fight is at the O2 Arena in London.
