- Promise of employment in Germany ends with company offices closed and management unreachable
A Filipino woman’s hopes of securing a job in Germany have turned into a suspected fraud case after she allegedly paid 1,000 dinars to a company that promised to arrange her overseas employment, only to find its offices closed and its management unreachable.
According to a report published by Al-Anba daily, the woman has filed a complaint at a police station in the Hawalli Governorate after failing to receive confirmation that her employment arrangements had been completed. The woman told police that she had seen an advertisement by a company offering lucrative job opportunities in several European countries.
She visited the company’s headquarters around two months ago to inquire about the offers and was informed that a position was available in Germany. She said the company’s management requested 1,000 dinars to complete the contracting procedures, and she paid the amount in cash.
After waiting for an update on her application without receiving a response, she returned to the company’s premises to check on the progress of the arrangements. However, she found the offices closed and was unable to contact anyone from the management. Suspecting that she had been defrauded, she reported the incident to police. The case is being investigated.
