By Zoila Palma: Mopan Technical High School’s vibrant Agri-Business Department is cultivating more than chickens, eggs and vegetables; its students are developing practical skills and entrepreneurial ideas that could contribute to Belize’s agricultural sector and national development.
The enthusiastic students are seeking financial assistance and business partnerships to improve the presentation and packaging of their products.
Currently, they sell their produce to the community using regular plastic bags and hope to acquire more suitable packaging for their eggs, chickens and other agricultural products to give them a more professional appearance.
Beyond improving packaging, the students have proposed an exciting initiative: establishing a dedicated Mopan Tech Market Day, when the school would open its doors to the community, allowing residents to purchase products directly from the students. The initiative would provide an opportunity to showcase their work, strengthen their entrepreneurial skills and connect the school’s agricultural production with local consumers.
The students say they have the willingness, dedication and hands-on experience to continue working the soil, raising poultry and improving the quality of their products. What they need now is the support and resources to take their efforts to the next level.
Mopan Technical High School is therefore inviting businesses, entrepreneurs and potential partners to collaborate with its Agri-Business Department through financial assistance, packaging supplies, equipment or other forms of support. Such partnerships would help students strengthen their practical training while developing products that can compete in the marketplace.
Supporting these students means investing in young Belizeans who are eager to learn, produce and build their future through agriculture.
Businesses and individuals willing to partner with Mopan Technical High School can help transform the students’ ideas into opportunities that benefit both the school and the wider community.
