Dinner and a movie is cute, but sometimes, date night needs a little plot twist
From getting your hands messy at a pottery workshop to screaming your way through a horror experience, KL has plenty of ways to make your next date a little more exciting. Here are six experiences to try with your other half when you're ready to switch things up!
1. Berjaya Times Square Theme Park
Looking for a date that brings you closer in more ways than one? Head to Berjaya Times Square Theme Park in the heart of Kuala Lumpur for a playful escape with your partner. Swap your usual dinner plans for an adventure-filled outing where you can hold hands through the thrills, laugh at each other's reactions and enjoy a side of each other you might not see on a typical date.
Take on the Supersonic Odyssey, Asia-Pacific's longest inverted roller coaster, featuring a two-storey loop and speeds of up to 80km/h, or brave the Haunted House together if you both enjoy a good scare. From stealing reassuring hand squeezes to sharing a laugh after each ride, these little moments can turn an ordinary date into a fun, memorable experience for two.
2. Spy Game The Curve
Ready to put your teamwork to the test? Spy Game at The Curve offers couples a chance to step into an action-packed mission to take down an evil cult. Instead of the usual dinner date, you'll get to work together, think on your feet and navigate a thrilling experience that brings out your adventurous sides.
With live actors or non-player characters (NPCs) involved in the mission, you'll need to stay alert and avoid getting caught. It's a chance to see how well you work together under pressure, share a few nervous laughs, and create an exciting memory that's just yours. After all, there's something romantic about having your partner by your side when the stakes feel high, even in a game.
3. Carousel & Co.
Who says a romantic date has to involve a candlelit dinner? At Carousel & Co., you and your partner can enjoy a carnival-inspired rooftop bar and dining experience complete with larger-than-life skill games. It's a fun way to shake up your usual date plans, challenge each other to something new and enjoy a little friendly competition while spending quality time together.
With nine interactive carnival games featuring digital scoring, real-time tracking and dynamic leaderboards, you can see who has the sharper skills and crown the winner. Once the games are over, wind down over handcrafted cocktails or mocktails and share some comfort food.
4. Space & Time Cube Kuala Lumpur
Looking for a date that feels worlds away from the usual café hopping or movie night? Space & Time Cube Kuala Lumpur offers an immersive 3D experience featuring augmented reality (AR), atmospheric lighting and soundscapes. Explore space-and-time-themed zones and take in the surreal visuals for an out-of-the-ordinary outing.
The experience also features 720° CAVE environments, creating an intriguing setting to explore and discover something new. With unlimited same-day re-entry, you can revisit your favourite zones and take another look at the immersive displays before calling it a day.
5. MinNature Malaysia
For a slower-paced date with plenty to discover, MinNature Malaysia offers a charming escape into a miniature world inspired by Malaysia's rich cultural heritage. Wander through intricately crafted displays that showcase the country's familiar sights and local character, making it a lovely way to appreciate the little details while enjoying a relaxed outing.
Take your time exploring the tiny scenes and pointing out the details that catch your eye. The intricate craftsmanship gives you plenty to talk about, while the nostalgic Malaysian touches can make the experience feel all the more special. It's a thoughtful alternative to the usual date plans, especially if you enjoy culture, creativity, and discovering something unexpected.
6. REXPERIENCE Immersive Art Gallery
Skip the dinner-and-movie routine and take your date into a world of art, light and sound at REXPERIENCE. Step into a 270° digital art experience where mesmerising visuals set the scene for a romantic night out. Explore TAPESTRY, which blends Japanese masterpieces with Malaysian batik heritage, for an immersive cultural experience that's anything but an ordinary date.
You can also discover XPRMNT, where live motion-capture data transforms into digital art, or catch one of the gallery's rotating shows featuring light, sound and technology. Wander through the captivating displays, share your favourite moments and let the art spark conversations. It's a refreshing way to spend an evening together, surrounded by creativity and a little wonder.
