Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) issued 144,863 marketing authorization numbers (NIE) for processed food during 2024-2026 and a nutrition labeling regulation, Nutri-Level, as support for food security through public protection.
BPOM Head Taruna Ikrar said here on Saturday that oversight is an important part of supporting food security, improving public health, and building trust in products circulating in Indonesia. The NIE comprise 105,354 domestic products and 39,509 imported products.
"BPOM also issued BPOM Regulation Number 10 of 2026 on Nutrition Value Information on Processed Food Labels," Ikrar said.
The regulation sets out the inclusion of nutrition value information through Nutri-Level, he added, as one effort to help the public get information that is easier to understand when choosing food.
Ikrar explained over the two years of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's administration, the authority played a strategic role in ensuring drugs and food in circulation meet safety, efficacy or benefit, and quality requirements.
BPOM's support for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program is also realized through food safety oversight, assistance for service facilities, and education for the parties involved.

In the first half of 2026, the authority inspected 198 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) and gave assistance to 76 SPPG to support the application of good food processing practices and food safety systems.
"BPOM is committed to support the government priority programs through risk-based oversight of drugs and food, stronger cross-sector collaboration, and assistance for businesses and program organizers," Ikrar said.
In the MBG program, he said, nutrition fulfillment must go hand in hand with food safety assurance. That way, the government program can be carried out optimally and give real benefits to the public.
In his directive, President Prabowo Subianto praised the hard work and dedication of the Red and White Cabinet during the first two years of the administration. The President also highlighted Indonesia's success in maintaining food availability amid global uncertainty.
"Amid a world we see full of challenges, we are still grateful, still grateful that we are relatively in good condition. Our food is under control, our main achievements include that we are self-sufficient in food," Prabowo said.
