Texas football's home contest against Florida last Saturday brought two losses for one Longhorns fan.
Texas (4-2, 1-2 SEC) dropped its second straight game in a 27-24 defeat to the Gators, a surprising home loss that featured one additional moment of drama postgame. One person wearing a burnt orange polo was caught on video flipping his middle finger to a collection of Florida players. While some of the student-athletes laughed oof the gesture, a couple walked toward the fan before being separated by a team employee.
Hated to see this after the game. Fans are frustrated but no need to run onto the field and do this. https://t.co/7aPogvnfyD

The fan, who appeared to have field access, has yet to be identified. But Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte announced Tuesday the person in question has been "permanently banned," from Royal-Memorial Stadium, the result of what Del Conte called a failure to "represent Texas with class and respect.

"I want to address the video circulating on social media showing unacceptable behavior by an individual who had the privilege of field access following Saturday's game," Del Conte wrote in his weekly newsletter. "We pride ourselves on sportsmanship and treating our opponents with respect. This individual's actions did not reflect those values or meet our standards and will not be tolerated.
"The matter has been addressed internally, and I want to personally apologize to the University of Florida and its entire football program. Having access to our field comes with a responsibility to represent Texas with class and respect. This individual failed to uphold that responsibility and has been permanently banned from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium."
