Will the San Francisco 49ers be without their top wideout in their Week 6 matchup against the Washington Commanders?
It's possible.
Mike Evans has been dealing with a ribs injury and now Achilles soreness. He was seen stretching on a side field during the open viewing portion of Saturday's practice in Santa Clara. That suggests Evans will be listed as a non-participant for the third consecutive day on the 49ers' practice participation report.
Players rarely suit up for a game without logging a single practice during the week. But perhaps if anyone can do it, it's the future Hall of Famer who has made a habit throughout his 13-year NFL career of playing through injury.
Evans missed practices each of the last two weeks ahead of matchups with the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks, but he ended up participating - in a limited capacity - at least once ahead of those games. He was tagged as questionable heading into the Broncos matchup and did not have an injury designation entering the Seahawks game.
Ahead of Thursday's practice, the 49ers' first of the week, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Evans was dealing with "just some Achilles soreness." It's unclear when this issue first popped up. Evans recorded season-bests of seven catches and 113 yards in the Niners' 32-29 win over the Seahawks on Sunday.
