After months of speculation and teases from creator Ryan Murphy, hit musical comedy-drama series Glee has been confirmed to return for a reboot.
It is not currently known who will star in the series or whether it will bring back any previous cast members. However, Murphy previously said that he had been in touch with "around ten of the original cast members" of the show.
All that is currently known about the reboot is that it is being produced by 20th Television and will air on Hulu and Disney+.
Glee originally ran for six seasons on Fox between 2009 and 2015, and starred the likes of Lea Michelle, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Amber Riley, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz.
It followed the member of a glee club called New Direction, at William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. Each episode featured a musical performance, while the show also dealt with various social issues across its run.
Last month, Murphy told Entertainment Tonight that he had "just finished" the reboot script, saying: "I just finished the script an hour ago. So, we have a script. Brad [Falchuk], Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something.
"I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members. It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea."
Since his work on glee, Murphy has gone on to create shows including American Horror Story, Scream Queens, Feud, 911, Monster, All's Fair, The Beauty and The Shards.
However, he has said that "there will never be in my life another Glee, anything close to it, in terms of me feeling so close to it."
