The Kome Shime Traditional Council has inducted six new members following a swearing-in ceremony held at Whuti in the Volta Region on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
The ceremony formally welcomed the traditional leaders into the Council, with officials saying the move would strengthen its representation and support traditional governance within the Kome Shime Traditional Area and Anlo State.
The newly inducted members are Togbi Agbelom Agbotokor Dzreke II, Divisional Chief of Salo-Sokutsime; Togbi Tsikata Agbodzie II, Divisional Chief of Srogboe; and Mama Amedzor II, Divisional Queenmother of Salo-Sokutsime.
The others are Togbi Lagah Doe Dzata V, Sub-Divisional Chief of Whuti; Mama Agume Dzonu II, Sub-Divisional Queenmother of Whuti; and Mama Kordeku II, Sub-Divisional Queenmother of Srogboe.
During the ceremony, the six members swore the Oath of Secrecy, Judicial Oath and Oath of Membership. The oaths were administered by Her Honour Bridget Akpe Akattah, Judge in charge of the Keta Circuit Court.
The Registrar of the Kome Shime Traditional Council, Kafui Logoh, reminded the new members that the oaths carried obligations that must guide their conduct and decisions in the discharge of their duties.
The Paramount Chief and President of the Council, Togbi Nyaho Tamakloe VI, congratulated the leaders on their induction and urged them to perform their responsibilities with integrity, fairness and a strong sense of duty.
He stressed the need for high ethical standards and encouraged the traditional leaders to pursue amicable and peaceful resolutions to chieftaincy disputes.
Togbi Nyaho Tamakloe VI also reiterated that although the Kome Shime Traditional Area and Council was autonomous under Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2409, its members remained indigenes of Anlo and were expected to participate in Anlo customs and traditions when called upon.
He urged the members to place the collective interests of Anlo Dukor and Ghana above personal interests, stressing that unity and collaboration among traditional authorities were essential to maintaining peace and supporting development.
The induction marks another step in the Council’s efforts to strengthen traditional leadership and promote harmonious relations among communities within its jurisdiction.
