The Tampa Bay Rays can taste a third World Series appearance. Tampa took down the Cleveland Guardians 3-1 to claim the Game 5 win of the ALCS Sunday. And the win sparked a confident Yandy Diaz postgame.
Diaz fired off this bold guarantee via Rays insider for The Tampa Bay Times Marc Topkin.
“It’s a great opportunity. All of us are thinking of it. But it all ends tomorrow. We’re gonna win tomorrow,” Diaz boldly said.

The designated hitter chipped three hits and scored one run. He pounded his first single toward right field off an 84 miles per hour changeup. Then he pounded his second single after facing an 85 mph sweeper.
Diaz was one of three Rays players who delivered multiple hits. Jonathan Aranda chipped two hits including driving one runner home. Chandler Simpson added his own two hits as well, plus scored one run.
Sunday marks the second time in this American League Championship Series that the Rays needed only three tuns to win the game. Tampa claimed the Game 2 victory with the same score.
But Tampa has overcome a 2-1 deficit in this series to place itself in a position to return to baseball biggest stage. Where the Milwaukee Brewers await after sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series 4-0.
So now the Rays can claim their third-ever American League pennant since the 2008 season. But also claim their first AL title since the truncated 2020 season, when that TB team fell to the Dodgers 4-2 in a series that moved to Texas due to COVID-19.
