(ANSA) - ROME, 15 OTT - Pope Leo XIV is doing physical therapy and there is so far a good recovery of the lung that was operated on Tuesday to remove a cancerous tumour, the Vatican said in its latest medical bulletin Thursday, adding that Leo had started working again.
"This morning, the Pope underwent routine check-ups, which yielded normal results. A chest X-ray showed a good recovery of the operated lung. He has been carrying out his daily activities independently. His physical therapy session included a full range of movement exercises. Overall, the post-operative recovery is progressing as expected," states today's medical bulletin.
"The Pope has resumed his work activities," said Vatican Press Office Director Matteo Bruni, speaking to journalists.
For the second day running the pope co-celebrated a Mass at Gemelli Hospital, Bruni said.
The sporty 71-year-old Chicago native is awaiting the results of biopsies to see if the cancer has spread.
United States President Donald Trump is among the latest leaders to wish Leo a speedy recovery. (ANSA).
