By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police have confirmed that 21-year-old Louis Maxwell Matthews has been arrested and charged with the murder of 17-year-old Kaylon Trevor David, who was gunned down on Iguana Street Extension in Belize City last Thursday.
During Tuesday’s police press briefing, investigators said Matthews was identified as the alleged shooter following an investigation into the teenager’s murder.
David was walking along Iguana Street Extension around 6:30 p.m. on October 8 when a gunman approached and fired several shots at him. He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
Police previously indicated that the killing may have stemmed from a rivalry involving threats exchanged between David and other individuals in the area. Investigators also confirmed that the teenager was not previously known to police.
Matthews, a Belize City welder, was formally charged on Saturday, October 10, as previously reported by BBN.
