The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) reported yesterday that its Board of Directors held a meeting with the Ambassador of Germany to Libya, Arvid Enders.
The meeting, which was attended by several of the company’s department directors, focused on prospects for strengthening cooperation in the energy and electricity sectors, as well as expanding partnerships with specialized German companies.
Discussions centred on enhancing collaboration with Siemens
GECOL reported that discussions centred on enhancing collaboration with Siemens—leveraging the company’s expertise and technologies to develop the electrical grid and improve its efficiency—and encouraging German firms to operate in Libya and contribute to the implementation of planned projects within the electricity sector.
Developing training and qualification programmes
Furthermore, both sides addressed the development of training and qualification programmes for the company’s technical personnel, as well as the transfer of expertise and modern technologies.
GECOL said these initiatives are intended to support the development of the electrical system, enhance operational efficiency, and contribute to the stability of the electrical grid.
