Longtime journalist, host and media personality Keltie Knight will be flexing her Emmy Award winning skills for Alta.
Knight has been tapped as editor-at-large for the digital styling and closet app in a role that will find her shaping Alta’s editorial voice across newsletters and socials while steering its first digital magazine cover, set to debut in November. Alta’s digital covers will be graced by digital avatars of celebrities while the inside is said to feature in-depth interviews. Per today’s news, the plan is to have each cover feature one star and one Alta user.
Similar to Cher Horowitz’s desktop styling app featured in Clueless, Alta lets users digitize their wardrobes and receive personalized outfit suggestions based on what they own and customized for weather and whatever is on their calendar for that day. They also get to “try on” those looks via a personal Alta Avatar. Per Alta, more than 700 million outfits have been generated thus far. Alta, which just announced that it had raised $20 million in series A fundraising, has already collaborated with e.l.f. Cosmetics, Gap, Zimmermann, Public School New York and Rent the Runway, and is an official partner of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).
“Fashion has always been about the stories we tell with what we wear, and Alta’s community is full of incredible stories,” Knight said in a statement. “I’ve spent my career talking to celebrities on the red carpet. Now I get to celebrate the style of everyone, from the biggest stars to the app users opening their closets on Alta every morning. I can’t wait to show the world what this community is made of.”
Added Alta founder Jenny Wang: “Keltie has an unmatched ability to make fashion feel personal, joyful and accessible. She is the perfect editor to bring Alta’s voice to life and to tell the stories of our community alongside the creators and icons who inspire them.”
Knight has been a fixture on Hollywood red carpets and in entertainment media circles for years. She rose to fame as a host on such programs as Entertainment Tonight, E! News and E! Live From the Red Carpet. She created and executive produced the primetime game show Superfan for CBS, and co-created and co-hosts LadyGang with Becca Tobin and Jac Vanek. She’s worked as an author on best-selling books like Act Like a Lady, Lady Secrets, and the most recent, The F*ck Them Theory. Fun fact: An avid dancer, she performed with the Radio City Rockettes.
