With their top pass rusher in Jaelan Phillips nursing a nagging hamstring injury, the Carolina Panthers could be looking to bulk up their edge here in Week 7.
Per the league transaction report, the Panthers worked out outside linebacker Kyle Kennard on Thursday.
Kennard, a Flint, Mich. native, split his five-year collegiate career between Georgia Tech (2020 to 2023) and South Carolina (2024). That final campaign as a Gamecock saw him post an SEC-leading 11.5 sacks en route to capturing the conference's Defensive Player of the Year award, the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and a consensus All-American nod.
The Los Angeles Chargers would then select Kennard in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He appeared in just five games a rookie, totaling a pair of tackles.
After being waived/injured at the end of the summer, Kennard was let go by Chargers on Sept. 5.
