Solana's market price captures investor sentiment, but it cannot independently measure blockchain adoption, economic activity or resilience. Evaluating the network in October 2026 requires examining transactions, stablecoin usage, decentralized finance, revenue and infrastructure alongside SOL's valuation. Comparisons with competing blockchains help identify Solana-specific advantages.
Network Activity and Real Users
DeFiLlama reported 2.86 million active addresses and 111.18 million transactions over 24 hours on October 22. However, transaction counts can include automated activity, while one person may control multiple wallets.
Investors should compare successful non-vote transactions, unique fee payers and repeat usage over several months. Solana's dashboard separates voting transactions from other network activity, helping analysts avoid inflated adoption estimates.
DeFi Liquidity and Stablecoin Demand
Solana held USD 6.01 billion in decentralized finance total value locked on October 22, according to DeFiLlama. Stablecoin capitalization reached USD 15.87 billion, while decentralized exchange trading volume totaled USD 2.08 billion over 24 hours.
TVL indicates capital committed to protocols, stablecoins provide settlement liquidity, and trading volume captures turnover. Rising volumes without sustained deposits or users may reflect speculative churn rather than durable adoption.
Changes in token prices can also distort dollar-denominated TVL without corresponding increases in deposited assets. September's stablecoin supply reached USD 17.3 billion, according to the Solana Foundation, showing why analysts should examine trends rather than individual snapshots.
Revenue, Payments and Tokenized Assets
DeFiLlama recorded nearly USD 732,119 in daily chain fees and USD 4.28 million in application revenue on October 22. These categories should not be combined: application earnings do not automatically accumulate to SOL holders.
A 21Shares analysis found Solana's gross network revenue fell 87.1%, from USD 1.09 billion in the first half of 2025 to USD 141 million in the first half of 2026. The decline shows how speculative trading cycles affect revenue. Meanwhile, Allium reported Solana handled 32% of cross-chain tokenized real-world asset spot volume during the year ending August 18, indicating diversification beyond memecoins.
Reliability and Token Economics
Network uptime, validator concentration, transaction failures and software diversity matter alongside throughput. Investors should also monitor SOL issuance, staking participation and transaction-fee burning to assess dilution and security incentives.
Final Thoughts
Solana's fundamentals extend beyond market capitalization. A balanced assessment combines adoption quality, stablecoin liquidity, productive applications, validator health and token supply dynamics. No single metric establishes fair value, and strong network growth does not guarantee SOL appreciation.

FAQs:
1. How can investors evaluate Solana beyond its token price?
Investors can assess Solana through network activity, active addresses, transaction success rates, DeFi total value locked, stablecoin supply and revenue generation. Validator decentralization, network reliability, staking participation and SOL tokenomics also provide insight into the blockchain's long-term sustainability.
2. What was Solana's DeFi TVL and stablecoin market capitalization in October 2026?
According to DeFiLlama, Solana's decentralized finance total value stood near USD 6.01 billion on October 22, 2026. Its stablecoin market capitalization reached approximately USD 15.87 billion, indicating substantial liquidity across the blockchain ecosystem.
3. Why are active addresses and transaction volumes important for Solana?
Active addresses and transaction volumes help measure blockchain usage, application engagement and potential adoption trends. However, automated transactions and multiple wallets controlled by individual users can inflate these figures, making repeat activity and successful non-vote transactions important additional indicators.
4. How does Solana generate revenue, and why does it matter?
Solana generates network fees from blockchain transactions, while decentralized applications earn revenue through activities such as trading and lending. Revenue trends help assess economic activity, but application earnings do not automatically translate into income for SOL holders or higher token prices.
5. What are the biggest risks when evaluating Solana as an investment?
Solana investors face risks involving cryptocurrency market volatility, validator concentration, network disruptions, token issuance and declining speculative activity. Strong transaction growth or increasing DeFi liquidity does not guarantee SOL price appreciation, making fundamental analysis and risk management essential.
