The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has recommended dismissing 26 medical officers who remained absent from duty for long periods without prior approval.
The department has recommended action against the doctors under the Efficiency and Discipline Rules for illegal absence, with some officers staying away from duty for several years.
According to the health department, some of the 26 absent medical officers have not reported to duty since 2017.
Some doctors have been absent for eight to nine years, while others have been away for two years.
The department said repeated official notices were sent to the absent doctors at their home addresses, but none of them contacted the department in response.
The long absence of these doctors has been made the basis for recommending action against them.
