Georgia escaped Tuscaloosa with a 20-17 win over Alabama on Saturday night.
It’s Kirby Smart’s first regular-season win over the Tide. His only wins in the series had come in the 2022 national title game and the 2025 SEC Championship Game.
Alabama led 14-10 at halftime, but Georgia took over after the break. Gunner Stockton finished 18 of 22 for 249 yards and one touchdown with one interception, along with a 14-yard rushing touchdown, and the Bulldogs sacked Alabama's Keelon Russell four times. The Tide tied it at 17 on a field goal, but Peyton Woodring’s 23-yard kick with just over five minutes left won it.
After the game, Georgia players headed back to the locker room with their helmets on as frustrated Alabama fans hurled bottles and cans at them from the stands.

Saturday's result gives Georgia a massive edge entering the second half of the college football season. The No. 2 Bulldogs are now 6-0 after their first win in Tuscaloosa since 2007, and it came against another undefeated team on the road. That's the kind of win the College Football Playoff committee loves.
Georgia's next game is at home against Auburn next week, followed by a tough slate of SEC opponents: Florida, Ole Miss, Missouri, and South Carolina.

For Alabama, it's a brutal loss, but not one that will end their CFP hopes. It was their first loss of the season and the Tide still have time to recover, but they too have some difficult matchups ahead. They'll visit Tennessee next before hosting Texas A&M and playing at LSU.
Each of those games will have massive SEC and playoff implications, and another loss could put them in real danger.
