Ruling New Democracy (ND) leads the Greek Left Alliance (EL.AS.), the party associated with former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, by 14.6 percentage points, while PASOK, the center-left party, ranks third after increasing its support by nearly one percentage point, in a latest opinion poll released on Thursday.
ND appears to retain support marginally above 30% in the poll’s estimate of an election result, but remains some distance from securing an outright parliamentary majority.
EL.AS. appears to have stalled at around 15-16%, while main opposition PASOK has narrowed part of the gap separating it from second place. However, the party has yet to demonstrate sufficient momentum to make its leader Nikos Androulakis’ stated ambition of finishing first, even by a single vote, appear attainable.
The parties’ distance from securing an outright majority becomes clearer in the poll’s projected distribution of parliamentary seats.

Assessment of the Gov’ts Performance
The poll also records two notable findings on public assessments of the government’s performance. A total of 62.7% of respondents rate its work negatively, while 36.7% give it a positive assessment.
The positive rating is considerably higher than ND’s estimated electoral support and comes relatively close to the governing party’s target of securing an outright parliamentary majority.
