The general consensus around college football is that Ohio State star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is not only the best wide receiver in the country, but perhaps even the best overall player in the country. However, one freshman wide receiver from the Pac-12 is certainly giving Smith a run for his money.
Oregon State star Jesse Legree has quickly taken the sport by storm. In every game that Legree has played in as a collegiate player, he has recorded at least 100 receiving yards.
That didn't change on Saturday when Oregon State took on Washington State, as Legree again put together a dominant performance. Specifically, Legree hauled in eight receptions for 108 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns en route to a 48-30 victory.

In the process, Legree entered a class of his own that not even Jeremiah Smith is a part of thus far this season, becoming the first player in the country to reach 1,000 receiving yards on the year.

Obviously, there is something to be said about the kind of competition that someone like Jeremiah Smith faces week in and week out in the Big Ten.
That being said, Legree has faced some tough competition in his own right, and more than held his own. The first two performances of his career came against Texas Tech and Houston, two teams that remain ranked in the AP Top 25 entering Week 7.
While Legree still has his hands full to be regarded as the type of NFL prospect that many profile Smith to be, it certainly seems like he will be a watch for years to come.
Oregon State will look to keep their five-game winning streak going in Week 9 against Fresno State, which will come after a bye week for the team in Week 8.
