The Washington Commanders ended Week 5 with a 27-27 tie with the New York Giants. Usually, that’s not the worst thing to happen in a football game. However, the team was within field goal range and failed to stop the clock before time expired. It was a total mismanagement of time that could have been prevented. After the game, head coach Dan Quinn opened up about who was to blame for the big mistake.

During his postgame press conference, the 56-year-old blamed himself for the Commanders’ overtime blunder, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports. Quinn admitted the tie feels like a gut-punch for the team, considering a win was within their grasp.

“We pride ourselves on those moments at the end of the game,” Quinn said. “After the first down run, still trying to gain more for the kick. Right call, honestly, is we can go clock it early and don’t put ourselves in that spot, and that is my responsibility. Nobody else’s. I’m gutted for our team.”
