Samsung Asset Management has opened an office in Jeonju near the National Pension Service's fund management headquarters, aiming to deepen on-the-ground communication and investment collaboration. Samsung Active Asset Management and Samsung SRA Asset Management have moved in alongside it, with plans to offer investment services spanning traditional and alternative assets.
Samsung Asset Management said on the 12th that it held an opening ceremony for the Jeonju office in Jeonju, Jeonbuk State. The firm completed the office fit-out on Sept. 28 and began on-site operations on Oct. 1.
Attending the ceremony were Samsung Asset Management CEO Kim Woo-seok, Samsung Active Asset Management CEO Ha Ji-won and Samsung SRA Asset Management CEO Kim Jung-geun. Also present were National Pension Service Chairman Kim Sung-joo, support division head Kang Chang-nam, Jeonju Mayor Cho Ji-hoon and Jeonbuk State corporate investment support director Yoo Hee-sook.
Samsung Asset Management plans to use the Jeonju office as a core base for expanding its points of contact with the National Pension Service and strengthening day-to-day communication. The aim is to quickly gauge investment demand and market shifts on the ground, then link that to the management, research and product teams at the Seoul headquarters to deliver more closely tailored services.
To that end, the firm will combine the management capabilities it has built in traditional assets such as equities and bonds with its affiliates' expertise in active and alternative investing. By running the Jeonju office as a collaboration hub among the group's asset management affiliates, it plans to offer a broad range of investment solutions from traditional to alternative assets and respond to the pension fund's management needs.
"With the opening of the Jeonju office, we have laid a foundation to communicate with the National Pension Service from much closer range and respond immediately to a wide range of management needs," an official at Samsung Asset Management said. "Drawing on the comprehensive management capabilities and expertise our affiliates hold, we will deliver differentiated investment solutions."
