Coach Dan Quinn’s injury-plagued Washington Commanders looked left-for-dead against the 49ers on Monday Night Football, but drew back to within six points in the fourth quarter on a Jayden Daniels touchdown pass to Rachaad White. The game included a wild Quinn brain fart on a fourth down play, along with a lucky make on an extra point by kicker Drew Stevens.
The kick came toward the end of the third quarter as Stevens blasted the ball off the top part of the left upright. The kick went in as Washington pulled to within 23-10 going into the final quarter.

Stevens had five points on the night entering the home stretch of the fourth quarter with San Francisco up 23-17, converting one field goal attempt from 51 yards out and both of his extra point attempts as the Commanders chased the 5-0 49ers.
The 49ers got most of the attention from the broadcast crew, including from Troy Aikman as he shared a daring anti-analytics take on coach Kyle Shanahan’s team. Daniels lost one of his favorite targets, star wideout Terry McLaurin, as he was carted off the field in a wild injury scene that added to the difficulties of the night.
Daniels proved his mettle with a high completion rate (22-of-27) for 217 yards and two touchdowns as the night continued to unfold. The Commanders got their fair share of bad luck on the night, but Stevens’ lucky bounce showed that there was perhaps more positivity left for Washington fans to witness before Week 6’s inevitable end.
