Every year, there is a reminder that there is nothing like baseball playoffs (except hockey playoffs, maybe. Full disclosure: hockey and soccer are not my sports, but I do respect them). The NFL playoffs, especially when our Cleveland Browns are in them, are amazing, but there is something different about every pitch mattering for a three-, five-, or seven-game series.
With the Cleveland Guardians squaring off with the Tampa Bay Rays, Browns CB Denzel Ward’s involvement (along with many other Cleveland sports names like Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell) has been fun to see. Of course, Ward now owning part of the Guardians is a piece of his connection with the team.
Sunday will be a big sports day in Cleveland. After the Guards were rained out on Friday night, Game 5 versus the Rays will be held Sunday at 5 PM. Perhaps Ward will join fans who attend the Browns Week 6 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens at 1 PM by hightailing up to Progressive Field (still The Jake to many of us) as quickly as possible for Game 5.
The Guardians currently have a 2-1 lead in the ALCS with Game 4’s first pitch at 8 PM on Saturday night.
Could you imagine if the Browns knock off the hated Ravens around 4:05 PM and then the Guardians’ first pitch less than an hour later is for a chance to go to the World Series on Sunday?!
A big sports day in Cleveland.
Anyone got tickets to go to both games? If not, are you planning to watch the Guardians Game 5 of the ALCS after the Browns Week 6 contest?
