Bayern Munich have confirmed that Joshua Kimmich will miss Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Arsenal following a death in his immediate family, asking the public and media to respect his privacy during the difficult period.
In a statement posted on X, the German club announced Kimmich’s absence from the squad and appealed for restraint in reporting on the personal loss.
“Due to a death in his immediate family, Joshua Kimmich is not in the squad today for the match against Arsenal London.
“On behalf of the family, we ask that his privacy and grief be respected, and that further inquiries and reporting be refrained from.

“In deep sympathy, the entire FC Bayern stands by Joshua Kimmich’s side,” the club said.
The announcement comes as Bayern prepare to host Arsenal in one of the week’s major Champions League encounters, with both sides competing among the leading contenders for the European title.
The clash follows Paris Saint-Germain’s victories over Manchester City and Barcelona, results that have reinforced the challenge facing other title hopefuls as they seek to dethrone the reigning European champions.
Bayern and Arsenal will now turn their attention to Wednesday’s meeting in Munich, with Kimmich unavailable following the family bereavement.
