Start With Clean Lids
Remove leftover makeup and excess oil around your eyes before applying kajal. Keep skincare and moisturiser away from the waterline itself to help your eye makeup stay put.
Choose A Waterproof Formula
If your eyes tend to water or your kajal smudges easily, try a waterproof pencil specifically labelled as safe for waterline use. Check the product directions before applying.
Apply In Thin Layers
Instead of repeatedly going over your waterline, apply one controlled layer and let it set. Too much product might transfer more easily onto the skin beneath your eyes.
Set The Lower Lash Line
If you like a smoky lower lash line, gently press a matching eyeshadow just beneath your lashes with a small brush. Keep powder out of your eyes and off the waterline.
Keep Concealer In Check
Heavy or creamy concealer close to the lower lashes can encourage makeup to move. Use a small amount, blend well, and lightly set the surrounding skin if needed.
Blot Away Excess Moisture
If your eyes water, gently dab the surrounding skin with a clean tissue instead of rubbing. Rubbing can disturb your kajal and create even more smudging.
Keep Your Pencil Sharp
Sharpen a traditional kajal pencil before use to create a cleaner, more precise line. Clean the sharpener regularly and avoid sharing eye makeup to keep application hygienic.
