A Wolf Security guard in Margate, KwaZulu-Natal, came across a family with a young baby sleeping rough on the streets on 14 October 2026. Instead of walking past, he pulled out his phone and recorded a video appealing to South Africans for help.
The footage, shared by @newsnexussa on Instagram, was filmed at night outside an illuminated storefront near Uvongo. In it, the guard speaks directly to the camera, clearly emotional as he asks the public to step in.
"I work for Wolf Security, so yeah, I'm just trying to help," he said. "If there's anyone who can help in any way, please, guys. There's also a little baby here."

A young woman from the family also spoke in the video, introducing her mother, brother, sister and her infant. She said they were not asking for much: a room, a job or any form of support.
"We are stuck and we just need any help," she told viewers. "I have an infant here and we just need any help as soon as possible."
Their situation reflects a wider reality in South Africa. According to the Stats SA 2022 Census, at least 55,719 people are homeless nationwide, though the Human Sciences Research Council estimates the true figure could exceed 200,000 when accounting for those in informal living arrangements. KwaZulu-Natal accounts for roughly 13.9% of the country's homeless population.
