A front-of-house professional aged 30 or under who consistently strives for excellence and shows genuine passion for hospitality.
There was a time when greeting a table of strangers might have felt like a bad dream for Kye Connors. Now a venue manager, the once shy 28-year-old didn’t seem destined for a career as a waiter. But stepping towards his fears propelled him into his calling. “Kye’s decision to immerse himself in hospitality to overcome his lack of confidence has gifted him unique skills,” says award judge Bronwyn Kabboord.
Connors anchors his craft in thoughtful gestures. He’ll remember that table always begins with champagne. He’ll choose a sentimental song especially for the Greek family celebrating a birthday. “Creating memorable and personal experiences like these reflects his deep love of the art of hospitality,” says Kabboord.
Connors brings a humanity to this industry, and hopes to promote longevity, not burnout.
