From the body oil that smells like an expensive perfume to the tinted hair gloss that delivers on shine, here are all the products we loved (and finished) in September.
October means autumn is finally here. After a scorching summer, we’re ready for cooler temperatures. From the hair trends to the fragrances that perfectly fit the season, it’s not just the outdoors that changes, but our beauty routines, too.
It means preparing for brisker temperatures by swapping in more intensive moisturisers and prepping strands that may be needing some serious TLC after months of sun. We’ve had to make a few much-needed switch-ups to our regimes.
Below are all the products that got us through the month, so much so that we finished them and squeezed out every last drop. From the body oil that smells as expensive as a luxury perfume to the plumping moisturiser, here are all the products the Stylist beauty team loved and used until the last drop in September.
Salt & Stone Santal & Vetiver Body Wash
“I cannot get enough of this body wash. Not only does it have a satisfying lather that leaves my skin feeling super soft, but the scent is also incredible. It has notes of amber, cedar, vetiver and Australian sandalwood, making it warm and cosy – perfect for this time of year. The day I got through to the last pump was a very sad one.” – Hanna Ibreheem, beauty director.
JS Health Hydrate+ Powder Formula
“There’s a lot of chat about how necessary electrolytes are, but I really find them helpful – and usually take them once or twice a week. I just finished the pink grapefruit-flavoured JS Health electrolytes (a flavour I love, which I don’t take for granted!). They also have pre- and probiotics, which may be helpful for gut health.” – Kitty McGee, executive fashion and beauty director.
Saltair Driftwood Nourishing Body Oil
“I’ve never gotten along with body oils (I used to find them greasy and not as hydrating as a cream), but this one totally changed my mind. Not only does the smell rival some of the more expensive perfumes in my rotation, but it also leaves my skin silky soft. I apply it fresh out of the shower, and it absorbs instantly, but the scent and hydration it delivers last all day. I’ve already got another bottle ready.” – Charlotte Bitmead, senior beauty writer.
Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment
“Whenever I go for a facial, I’m reminded of the importance of a great exfoliator, with therapists often recommending lactic acid. I love the ritual of a weekly exfoliation, followed by a juicy hydrating mask, and this Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment exfoliates and brightens and is suitable for sensitive skin – a winner on every count.” – Kitty McGee, executive fashion and beauty director.
Caudalie High Protection Glow Sun Oil SPF50 for Face, Body and Hair
“Caudalie makes some of my favourite body SPFs, and this one is no exception. This lightweight oil has a white floral scent to it that smells incredible and kept my skin feeling soft for days after I got back from holiday. It also leaves a lovely sheen on the body too and layers brilliantly. I applied religiously under the Spanish sun and successfully managed to avoid any burning. I will definitely stock up for my next holiday.” – Charlotte Bitmead, senior beauty writer.
Byoma Bio-Collagen Radiance Facial Mask
“I love Byoma for its barrier-boosting ranges, which are great for sensitive skin and also fairly affordable. The instant results from the peel-off face mask are highly addictive; I gobbled the whole pot up in one summer and will definitely be rebuying.” – Kitty McGee, executive fashion and beauty director.
Vieve Modern Brow Define
“A little goes a long way with this micro-fine pencil. The shades have the perfect undertones (not too warm, nor too cool) and left my arches looking softly defined. The formula itself is really blendable and doesn’t disappear on brows after just a few hours. It’s the ultimate brow sculptor.” – Charlotte Bitmead, senior beauty writer.
Paula’s Choice Pro-Collagen Peptide Plumping Intensive Moisturizer
“Peptides are the ingredient of the moment and for good reason, thanks to their skin-plumping benefits. This moisturiser has a lightweight gel consistency that feels like a refreshing drink for my skin. It sinks in instantly, eliminates any tight, dry feeling and, over time, has left my skin feeling more bouncy.” – Hanna Ibreheem, beauty director.
Glaze Super Color Conditioning Gloss Copper Crush
“I’ve written about this tinted gloss before for helping to keep my colour topped up in between salon appointments, and this is my third bottle of the shade Copper Crush – the perfect fiery, auburn shade. It’s hard to mess this up and takes just 10 minutes to get to work. The new packaging is a massive improvement too, as it allows you to eliminate any wastage. Not only does it revive my colour, but it also delivers a noticeable shine to my strands. I’m already ordering a top up.” – Charlotte Bitmead, senior beauty writer.
