A deputy tahsildar, a village revenue officer (VRO) and a private individual were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with a ₹5 lakh bribery case in Keesara mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri district on Thursday (October 15). Their associate, a private employee was caught while accepting ₹2.50 lakh as part payment of the demanded bribe.
The accused were identified as deputy tahsildar Amanaganti Sandeep Kumar Reddy, VRO Nannuri Vijay Kumar Reddy and their associate Kavali Balakrishna.
According to the ACB, Sandeep Kumar Reddy demanded ₹5 lakh from the complainant for processing and completing the removal of agricultural properties registered in the names of the complainant’s mother and other family members from the prohibited properties list under Section 22-A of the Registration Act, 1908.
Investigators said the deputy tahsildar instructed the VRO to facilitate the collection of the bribe. Following these instructions, Vijay Kumar Reddy directed Balakrishna to receive the money from the complainant.
Acting on a complaint, ACB officials of the Rangareddy Range laid a trap and caught Balakrishna while accepting ₹2.50 lakh towards the demanded bribe. The amount was recovered from his possession at his instance.
The ACB said the two revenue officials had misused their official positions to obtain an undue advantage in exchange for performing their duties. All three accused are being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
The case is under investigation, and the complainant’s identity has been withheld for security reasons.
