Rob Gronkowski has delivered a blunt assessment of the Los Angeles Rams, questioning their Super Bowl credentials and suggesting they could struggle to qualify for the playoffs following a disappointing start to the 2026 NFL season.
The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end shared his thoughts during an appearance on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, discussing the Rams’ inconsistent performances through their opening five games.

Los Angeles entered the conversation with a 2-3 record, raising questions about whether the team can meet expectations. Their latest disappointment came against the Buffalo Bills on Monday, adding further pressure as they attempt to regain momentum.
The problem extends beyond the losses in Gronkowski’s eyes. He believes the Rams haven’t consistently demonstrated the qualities required of a genuine championship contender, despite possessing the talent to compete with the league’s strongest teams.
He singled out their victory over the New York Giants as the only game in which they’d convincingly looked dominant.
Their other performances, he suggested, have lacked the consistency needed to establish themselves among the NFL’s elite.
Gronkowski questions Rams’ ability to contend
Speaking about Los Angeles’ struggles, Gronkowski explained that the team hadn’t done enough to convince him they could challenge for the championship.
“That was the only game [vs the New York Giants] where it was very convincing that they’re a dominant team,” said Gronkowski.
“All the other games, hey, I don’t know where is it? Like, they don’t, they can’t figure out how to win the games as well. They’re losing the games.
“You know, a lot of things are handed to them and they just can’t overcome those situations and take advantage of it.
“So, I think so far I am out on the Los Angeles Rams, you know, making it to the Super Bowl. Maybe not even the playoffs either.”
The comments represent a significant warning for a team that entered the campaign with ambitions of making a deep playoff run. Although five games represent only a small portion of the regular season, their early results have left little room for complacency.
However, the Rams still have time to change the narrative. A strong run of performances could restore confidence and demonstrate that their disappointing opening stretch doesn't define their season.
Their upcoming meeting with the Arizona Cardinals on October 18 presents an opportunity to respond, with Los Angeles needing a convincing performance to silence some of its growing critics.
Meanwhile, other teams have made stronger early impressions. The San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings have both opened the campaign 5-0, while the Kansas City Chiefs remain unbeaten at 4-0. The Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars have also impressed with 4-1 records.
Those results highlight the challenge facing the Rams as their rivals build momentum and strengthen their championship credentials.
Gronkowski's prediction will be judged by what happens over the coming weeks. If Los Angeles finds consistency and starts converting opportunities into victories, his concerns could prove premature.
