AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Tuesday (October 14, 2026) questioned Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay over his “silence” on the Cauvery water issue with Karnataka, though he held talks with his Andhra Pradesh counterpart regarding Krishna river water.
“Why is Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. Joseph Vijay, who holds talks with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister for Krishna river water, maintaining silence over the Cauvery issue? Is the alliance [TVK’s alliance with the Congress] more important than the State’s rights and the livelihood of the farmers?” Mr. Dhinakaran questioned in a social media post.
If there were issues with holding talks with Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in person by visiting the State, Mr. Dhinakaran asked, had Mr. Vijay raised the Cauvery water issue with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his recent visit to Chennai? “Has Mr. Vijay decided to sacrifice the livelihood of the people in the Cauvery Delta region in exchange for the support of the Congress, which is holding up the minority TVK government?” he asked.
