The San Francisco 49ers are feeling unstoppable, and they have every right to feel so, as no team has yet to take them down thus far in the 2026 NFL season. On Monday, they added the Washington Commanders to their growing list of victims, with the Niners coming away wtih a 23-17 win at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
The 49ers made some big plays down the stretch on defense to fend off Washington’s comeback attempts.
Among the San Francisco players who made their presence felt on that side of the ball was defensive end Mykel Williams.
The former Georgia Bulldogs pass rusher, playing in only his second game of the season after a long recovery from a torn ACL injury, got his first sack of 2026 in the third quarter. On a 3rd-and-8, Williams got to Jayden Daniels in the pocket, seemingly with some help from a Washington offensive lineman, who pushed him straight into the Commanders quarterback.

Asked what the sack felt for him, Williams had a response that left reporters chuckling.
“Man, like crack. No I’m playin,” Williams said.
Reporter: "How'd that sack feel for you?"

49ers Stay Undefeated After Week 6 Takedown of The Commanders

San Francisco struck first with a George Kittle touchdown at 10:53 in the opening quarter. The Commanders scored their first points on a field goal at 8:48 in the period before Christian McCaffrey found the end zone with under five minutes left in the frame.
The Niners would score two more touchdowns and a field goal to build a 20-point lead. The Commanders threatened with a touchdown late in the third quarter and another in the fourth period, but San Francisco held on to notch their sixth win of the campaign.
The 49ers have a date with the Atlanta Falcons on the road in Week 7 before a bye in Week 8.
