The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has expressed grief over the death of Felix Onigbinde, a photojournalist with the Nigerian Tribune.
Onigbinde reportedly fell into a coma last week and was admitted to Garki General Hospital, Abuja, where he later died.
In a statement issued on Saturday by its Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, the council described his death as heartbreaking, saying his passing had created a painful void among colleagues, friends and the wider journalism community.
The council extended its condolences to the management and staff of the Nigerian Tribune, the Photojournalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN) and his professional associates, praying that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss.
It also commiserated with his immediate family, particularly his wife and two children.
Onigbinde began his journalism career with Daily Trust before joining the Nigerian Tribune, where he worked until his death.
He was described as a dedicated and award-winning photojournalist who contributed to public information through his coverage of events and visual storytelling.
The late journalist hailed from Ife Modakeke in Ife East Local Government Area of Osun State.
The NUJ FCT Council prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and for God’s comfort for his wife, children, extended family, colleagues and others mourning his death.
