Schools in Melaka, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and parts of Pahang will open as usual tomorrow, but all outdoor activities remain suspended due to haze.
KUALA LUMPUR: All educational institutions in Melaka, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, as well as in Kuantan, Rompin and Bentong in Pahang, will operate as usual tomorrow, but all outdoor activities have been suspended due to the haze.
In MELAKA, the State Education Department said that students attending school were encouraged to wear face masks, while parents or guardians who were concerned about their children’s health were allowed to keep them at home, provided that they informed the school.
“School administrators must continuously monitor the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings from the Department of Environment (DOE), and pay special attention to students at high risk,” it said in a statement.
In SELANGOR, the State Education Department also said that schools would operate as usual, but outdoor activities had been postponed, with students attending school encouraged to wear face masks.
The department also advised the public to refer to official channels or the schools for accurate and up-to-date information, while reminding school administrators to monitor API readings and pay attention to high-risk students.
In NEGERI SEMBILAN, the State Education Department said that all educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE) across the state would also operate as usual tomorrow.
“Students are advised to wear face masks, especially those experiencing respiratory symptoms or belonging to high-risk groups,” it said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, in PAHANG, the State Education Department, in a Facebook post, said that schools in Kuantan, Rompin and Bentong would open tomorrow, but all outdoor and out-of-classroom activities had been postponed.
“Any changes will be communicated from time to time through the respective district education offices,” the post said.
In a related development, earlier today, the MOE announced an extension of the deadline for entering marks for several school assessments in the Integrated Education Management System (MOEIS), following disruptions to school sessions and assessment activities due to the haze in several areas.
The deadline for entering marks for the End-of-Academic-Session Assessment (UASA) and End-of-Academic-Session Examinations (PAT/PASA) has been extended by one week, from Nov 21 to Nov 28, while the deadline for entering marks for the Physical, Sports and Co-curricular Assessment (PAJSK) has been extended from Nov 30 to Dec 5.
