(ANSA) - ROMA, 21 OTT - The Piccola Biblioteca Italiana in Accra hosted “Stories of Migration and Opportunity: Voices of the Ghanaian Diaspora,” an event that is part of the “Diaspora for Climate Action and Food Security” project, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Organized by the Italian Embassy in Ghana and Togo, AICS (Italian Coordination of Diasporas for International Cooperation), and IOM Ghana, the event explored the role of the Ghanaian diaspora as a bridge between Ghana and Italy and as a key contributor to sustainable development in both countries. Attended by the Italian Ambassador to Accra, Laura Ranalli, the meeting offered an opportunity to hear the stories of professionals and entrepreneurs who have personally experienced migration and return, demonstrating how the skills, networks, and knowledge acquired abroad can become valuable resources for Ghana’s economic, social, and cultural development. In particular, the head of the AICS office in Ouagadougou, Emanuela Forcella, emphasized that “diaspora communities are not merely beneficiaries of development initiatives, but partners in shaping and implementing solutions. Through their skills, ideas, innovations, and social capital, diaspora communities can help strengthen ties between communities, institutions, and countries.”
