Relatives, friends and fans of Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis are expected to gather in Nikaia, near Athens, on Sunday, Oct. 18, for a memorial service marking 40 days since his death, as judicial authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding his final hours.
The service will take place at the Church of the Holy Trinity at 9:30 a.m., following the morning Divine Liturgy. A brief prayer service will then be held at the singer’s grave in Athens’ Third Cemetery.

New Testimony in Investigation Into Mazonakis’ Death
The memorial comes amid continuing developments in the investigation into Mazonakis’ death, with two doctors who operated a medical practice on Karneadou Street in central Athens being held in pretrial detention.
New testimony from the doctors’ 19-year-old daughter has provided investigators with additional details about procedures carried out at the practice and her parents’ involvement in its operations.
According to media reports, the young woman told an investigating magistrate that her father had arranged for an anesthesiologist to operate equipment used in plasmapheresis, a procedure that involves separating plasma from blood.
She also reportedly said her father was aware that some patients undergoing treatments had experienced low blood pressure and fainting episodes.
The 19-year-old described complications during a plasmapheresis session she herself underwent in August, alleging that her mother administered an unidentified substance through an intravenous line after she experienced repeated problems with her veins.
She also reportedly testified that emergency responders called to the practice when Mazonakis was there were not informed that he had been under sedation.
Another part of her testimony appeared to contradict her father’s account of his movements before the singer arrived at the clinic. While the doctor reportedly said he had briefly fallen asleep in the reception area, his daughter described finding him awake and using his phone before they moved to another office.
Investigators are expected to assess her account alongside other witness statements and evidence gathered in the case.
