Congratulations are in order because it is Doja Cat‘s birthday. The musician celebrated her big day held on Oct. 23 in Los Angeles. The star signed autographs and greeted fans before enjoying her night. Doja dressed for the occasion, sporting a pair of impressive platform heels that remind us of a specific time in her career so long ago.
The “Say So” singer’s footwear was cow-print or polka dot in black and white. The silhouette was a sandal style with open rounded toes that transitioned into thick straps that sat across the tops of her toes and cloth uppers. Platform soles gave way to what appeared to be block heels standing at around 4 to 5 inches in height. Similar animal-printed silhouettes can be bought from brands like Clarks, Jessica Simpson, and Anthropologie, among others.
The print is eclectic and funky, harkening back to the musician’s “Mooo!” days spent wearing lots and lots of cow-printed outfits. Platform silhouettes are a favorite of Doja’s and one she tends to wear both for casual occasions and on stage. Silhouettes like these are also a favorite of Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Jenna Ortega and Dua Lipa, among a slew of other famous folk. The style acts to elongate the legs, creating the illusion of height. Platform styles that are sandals are often more popular in the summer as they expose more of the feet.
Worn with her black and white footwear, the “Agora Hills” singer sported a colorful ensemble consisting of pastel hues and a pop of polka dots. On top, Doja donned a pink vest which she layered over a purple lace bra. The corseted vest gave way to a coordinating pink sheer skirt crafted of dainty lace layered over what appeared to be aqua-colored undergarments.
Attached to her hip, Doja sported a ribbon brooch with polka dots, pink and aqua accents, along with a blonde braided lock of hair, a whimsical touch. Rounding out her look, the performer wore black glasses with thick frames. To mimic the color scheme found in her outfit, Doja’s makeup consisted of a bright pink lippie and coordinating pink blush.
The musician seemingly went without a purse. Pastels are a trending color scheme for the moment, capitalizing on the “whimsical” trend dominating fashion, tech and footwear sectors at the moment. “Whimsy” aesthetics usually consist of maximalist designs, bold colors and striking clashing patterns. Most notably, the last time we caught up with Doja, the singer sported clear vinyl platform sandals at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Opening Night Gala.
