The Golden State Warriors have signed, drafted, and traded for players from nearly every U.S. state and many countries around the world. From Alaska to Wyoming and Austria to Zaire, the Warriors have a strong history of seeking out talent necessary for NBA success.
Since their beginnings in the Basketball Association of America (a precursor to the NBA) when they got their start as the team representing Philadelphia before they made their move to the West Coast, the organization has consistently pursued talent from a broad range of sources.
For this installment of our series taking stock of the birthplace of every Golden State player to suit up for the franchise, let's take a look at every player from Alabama who has played for the Warriors.
Our focus in this article is Mickell Gladness. An alum of Sylacauga high school and Alabama A&M University, he went unselected in the 2008 NBA Draft, starting his pro career abroad.
The Birmingham, Alabama native played the first season of his pro career with the Miami Heat when he signed with them in 2012. That ended that same fall when he signed with the Dubs for the final 18 games of his NBA career.
During his time suiting up for the Warriors, Gladness put up 3.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game.
