Dushanbe authorities have launched a project to build three overpasses and a bridge on Abdulahad Qahhorov Street in the capital’s Firdavsi district, the city administration reports.
On October 19, Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali and Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao attended a foundation-stone laying ceremony for the planned road structures.
The first overpass will be built at the intersection of Abay and Abdulahad Qahhorov streets, along a 3.736-kilometer road section.

The second will be a two-level interchange at the intersection of Abdurahman Jami and Abdulahad Qahhorov streets. Its upper level will feature a 2.310-kilometer circular road regulated by traffic lights.
The third structure, at the intersection of Southern and Abdulahad Qahhorov streets, will include an overpass and a 230-meter bridge. The road section will extend for 2.848 kilometers.

The project is being implemented under cooperation between the governments of Tajikistan and China’s International Development Cooperation Agency. Chinese companies China Railway First Survey and Design Institute Group and Xi’an Engineering Consultancy & Management are overseeing construction management.
During an inspection of the project, Rustam Emomali instructed those responsible to ensure construction quality, meet deadlines and comply with international standards.

In February 2025, Asia-Plus reported that Dushanbe authorities planned to build two flyovers — near the state circus and in the area of the meat-processing plant.
At the time, Muhammadyusuf Rahimzoda, head of the city administration’s road construction department, said the design for a two-level flyover on Saadi Sherozi Avenue had been approved by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, with a feasibility study already prepared. Construction was expected to begin within three to four months.
In January 2024, the city administration also presented plans to reconstruct Saadi Sherozi Avenue from Nemat Qaraboyev Street to the bridge over the Dushanbinka River. The project aimed to reduce traffic congestion and improve road safety.
