Manchester United have got off to a nightmare start once again in the Champions League by conceding early.
Last time out in Europe, Atletico Madrid opened the scoring inside the first minute of action before going on to seal a 2-0 win.
Tonight, Como broke the deadlock in just the second minute via a scintillating strike from Nico Paz, making United the first English team in history to concede in the first two minutes of consecutive major European matches, as per Opta.
It’s therefore no surprise that, shortly after the opener and United’s torrid start, Samuel Luckhurst spotted Michael Carrick bickering with Matheus Cunha from the touchline.
“Carrick just had a relatively robust exchange of views with Cunha during the stoppage before he cursed at MUFC losing possession again,” Luckhurst penned on Twitter/X.
Cesc Fabregas’ side have dominated in the first half, and arguably played United off the park for the first half-hour of action.
United are now at risk of suffering the same fate they did at the Metropolitano, where they had only very few chances and failed to get back into the game with even one goal.
Prior to kick-off, Dimitar Berbatov expressed just how essential it was that his former club left with a win tonight.
“If they lose today, the pressure will be even more. They need the win today no matter what. I don’t care how. Long ball, direct ball, possession — just get the win because the pressure will get less after the game,” the ex-striker said on TNT Sports.
United’s last win in any competition came on September 10 against Azerbaijan outfit Sabah, while their last Premier League victory was all the way back in August against newly-promoted Ipswich Town.
