The Chicago Bears fans were delighted to see quarterback Caleb Williams return from injury in Week 6 and lead his team to a victory. However, Sunday’s game also brought an injury setback, as Jonah Jackson suffered a hip flexor injury during the win over the Atlanta Falcons. Now, there is an update on Jackson’s condition.
NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported that Jackson is considered week-to-week. His availability for the upcoming matchup against the New England Patriots remains uncertain, yet the injury is not expected to keep him sidelined for an extended period.
“Bears OG Jonah Jackson has a hip flexor injury and is considered week-to-week, per source. Status for TNF in doubt but shouldn’t be long-term,” Fowler wrote.

The Bears will have a 10-day rest period after their game against the Patriots before facing the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8. Given Fowler’s report that Jackson’s injury should not keep him out for long, there is a possibility that the veteran guard could return for the Seahawks matchup.
The veteran guard has been an important part of Chicago’s offensive line since joining the team. His experience and ability to operate in the interior provide valuable support for Williams.
Jackson joined the Chicago Bears in March 2025, when the team acquired him from the Los Angeles Rams. He arrived in Chicago as an experienced interior offensive lineman after previously playing for the Detroit Lions and the Rams.
Jackson has continued to serve as a regular starter in 2026. Through Chicago’s first five games of the season, he appeared in all five games and started each one before suffering the hip flexor injury against the Falcons.
New England also has injury concerns of its own. The Patriots’ offensive line has been dealing with several issues.
However, if Jackson cannot suit up against New England, the Bears will need to rely on their available depth to fill the gap. Luke Newman might be a potential option if the veteran guard is ruled out against New England.
