One of his children, however, was not having it, cheerfully pointing out that United had conceded yet again. The look on Njugush's face said everything.
"Michael Kariuki..." he said, seemingly trying to hold back his tears.
He followed up the clip with a caption taking a gentle dig at his son:
"He is speaking like that, and he hasn't completed his homework."
A second video showed the same boy pleading with Manchester United to pull at least one goal back, a moment that resonated with long-suffering United supporters across the country.
The comedian had also reacted to United's earlier defeat to Como with a similarly entertaining video, making this a week of content gold built entirely on United's misery.
Other Kenyan voices online were equally candid.
Content creator _law_____ kept it matter-of-fact:
"Nothing special, we're used to this 😂 or you thought we would win anything this season." Useful Idioty took a different angle, writing: "Just 1 loss and we are there in the red zone. Carrick must stay, we love him."
