A robotics team from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), won the Funny Robot Making Hackathon organised by Robo Tech Valley.
The press release said the winners were announced after several months of testing and observation, and the official prize-giving ceremony was held in Dhaka on 4 October, 2026.
The three-day hackathon took place in December 2025. After an initial selection process, 20 teams competed to design and build robots capable of movement, programmed effects and audience interaction.
Suvarnagrama Amusement Park & Resorts in Narayanganj sponsored the event, which offered a total prize pool of Tk 1 lakh and invited teams to participate.
IUB's Team Vhuter Raja comprised team leader Kallyen Kumar Tirtho and members Ankit Roy, Kazi Shafin Al-Fee, Md Arifin Hossain and Md Sadman Bhuyian Sami. Professor Dr Feroz Ahmed supervised the team.
The team developed its robot using programmable logic controllers, pneumatic cylinders and industrial-grade materials. It was designed to perform programmed movements and operate in an amusement park environment.
Following the hackathon, the robot underwent several months of on-site testing and observation at the sponsoring amusement park.
The tests assessed its operation and durability under continuous use in an active amusement park setting.
The resort now has the robot installed as a permanent attraction for visitors.
