Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers improved to 4-2 after their 20-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6. Wide receivers DK Metcalf and Germie Bernard played a pivotal role in the 13-point comeback. The two wide receivers combined for 22 catches and 180 receiving yards, and Bernard scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime.
However, if the Steelers extend their unbeaten run, they must plug some immediate help into Rodgers’ receiving room to improve their inconsistent offense, with Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson on injured reserve. According to Pittsburgh radio host Andrew Fillipponi, Rodgers already has someone in mind to address this.
Aaron Rodgers reportedly looking at Buccaneers’ Chris Godwin, claims Fillipponi
The Steelers have been linked to numerous wideouts ahead of the NFL trade deadline, and Andrew Fillipponi recently revealed on 93.7 The Fan that Aaron Rodgers prefers that the team pursue Chris Godwin, whose Buccaneers are struggling in the NFC South with a 1-5 record, especially with Baker Mayfield recovering from a thumb injury.
“He’s a Godwin guy,” Fillipponi claims. “He looks at Chris Godwin and thinks, ‘that is a wide receiver I would like the opportunity to throw him the ball if the stars ever align.'”
CBS analyst doubles down on the idea of pairing Aaron Rodgers with Chris Godwin

In a separate CBS column, Carter Bahns also urged the Steelers to trade for Godwin, whom he believes could use a change of scenery after spending the first 10 seasons of his NFL career in Tampa Bay.
“There is a wide receiver injury crisis in Pittsburgh. Aaron Rodgers was on a hot streak until health issues depleted his supporting cast,” Bahn wrote. “Chris Godwin Jr. should be on their radar. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, whom they just defeated in overtime, are drifting further into the abyss and should be ready to sell. His three-year contract makes him an expensive asset who struggles to stay on the field, and that is a profile that the Buccaneers would seemingly want to part with.”
“He is healthy now, though, and that is what matters to the Steelers. Plus, he should be a tremendous fit next to Metcalf. Godwin spent every year prior to this one on the other side of a towering No. 1 target in Mike Evans, so he would be right at home in the same lineup as a similarly sizable go-to weapon like Metcalf,” he concluded.
