Meulaboh, Aceh (ANTARA) - Immigration officers from West Aceh and Simeulue’s Foreigners Supervision Team (PORA) inspected 15 foreign nationals at tourist sites in Simeulue District, Aceh Province, and found no immigration violations.
“The operation was conducted to ensure that no foreign nationals violated Indonesia’s immigration law,” West Aceh Class II Immigration Office Head Nicky Avry Muchelly said here Thursday.
The joint operation involved Simeulue’s National Unity and Politics Office, Simeulue Police, the district prosecutor’s office, Military District Command 0115 and the Simeulue Naval Base.
Officers checked accommodations for foreign tourists at Mahi-Mahi Resort, Aura Surf Resort and Moon Beach Surf Resort.
The 15 foreign nationals were from Australia, New Zealand, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Nicky said officers reviewed travel documents and residence permits and checked whether the foreigners’ presence and activities complied with immigration regulations.
All travel documents and residence permits met the requirements, and officers found no immigration violations, he said.
Nicky said effective monitoring of foreign nationals required cooperation among agencies and information-sharing among relevant parties.
“No single agency can monitor foreign nationals effectively on its own. PORA members need to coordinate, share information and communicate continuously so reports can be followed up within their respective mandates and legal authority,” he said.
