SHAH ALAM: Police are tracking down five more men in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a 34-year-old durian seller last month.
Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said the five suspects had criminal records.
"We believe they are still in the country," he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters today.
The victim, Mulialisman Nordi, was abducted by several individuals from the Ampang Waterfront area between 4am and 4.30am on Sept 24.
Police found his body buried near Semenyih three days later.
“We believe he was murdered over a dispute with one of the suspects,” Shazeli said.
Police also believe Mulialisman was held at another house before he was killed, but have yet to determine how long he was detained or when he was murdered.
"A post-mortem revealed that the victim died from several wounds to the neck inflicted by a sharp weapon," he said. The victim had also sustained other injuries.
Last month, police arrested 14 men, including two foreigners, and a Malaysian woman, aged between 20 and 48, in connection with the murder.
They also seized two firearms, a car, and a hoe believed to have been used to bury the victim.
Yesterday, four of the 15 suspects were charged in the Bandar Baru Bangi magistrates' court with murder or abetting the murder of the durian seller.
No pleas were recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The court fixed Dec 1 for mention.
